2. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing this website or using our services, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age and have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement. If you are accessing this website on behalf of a business, you represent that you have authority to bind that business to these terms. If you do not agree to these terms, please discontinue use of this website.

3. Service Description

Threshold Advocates provides legal services in Malaysia in three areas: technology and startup law, consumer protection advisory, and franchise and licensing compliance. Services are provided subject to a separate engagement letter confirming scope, fees, and terms specific to your matter. The content on this website is for general information only and does not constitute legal advice.

Service availability is subject to professional obligations including conflict checks and Bar Council requirements. We reserve the right to decline to act in any matter at our discretion.

4. User Responsibilities

5. Intellectual Property

All content on this website, including text, design elements, and branding, is owned by or licensed to Threshold Advocates. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to view and use this website for personal, non-commercial purposes only. No other rights are granted.

Documents and advice provided to you during an engagement are prepared for your specific matter and may not be shared with or relied upon by third parties without our written consent.

6. Fees and Payment

Fees for our services are set out in the engagement letter provided at the commencement of each matter. We require agreement on scope and fees before substantive work commences. Invoices are payable within the period specified in the engagement letter. We reserve the right to suspend work on a matter where invoices remain unpaid beyond the agreed period.

All fees are stated in Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) and are subject to applicable taxes where required by law.

7. Legal Services — Specific Terms

Technology and Startup Packages

Engagement scope covers only the components selected and confirmed in writing. Additional components require a separate or amended engagement letter. Our work does not constitute tax, accounting, or financial advice.

Consumer Protection Advisory

Single consultation engagements cover the matters discussed in that session only. Where ongoing advisory is required, this must be confirmed in a separate engagement. Representation before the Tribunal for Consumer Claims is subject to a separate engagement and fee.

Franchise and Licensing

Advice on franchise arrangements is based on information provided to us and on the documents made available. We are not responsible for the accuracy of information provided by third parties, including franchisors. Registration timelines are subject to the Registrar of Franchises' own processes and are not within our control.

8. Disclaimers

This website and its content are provided on an "as is" basis. While we take reasonable care with the information published, we make no representation as to its completeness, currency, or accuracy. The content on this website does not constitute legal advice and should not be relied upon as such. Specific legal questions require specific legal advice based on your circumstances.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, our liability in connection with services provided is limited to the fees paid for the specific engagement giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special losses. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for fraud or for death or personal injury arising from our negligence.

10. Confidentiality

All communications between you and Threshold Advocates in the context of a legal matter are subject to legal professional privilege and treated as confidential. We will not disclose your information except as required by law, by our professional obligations, or with your consent.

11. Termination

Either party may terminate an engagement by written notice. On termination, fees are payable for work completed to the date of termination. We will provide your file and documents to you or your nominated replacement adviser in accordance with Bar Council requirements.

12. Dispute Resolution

These terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Any disputes arising from these terms or our services will first be subject to good-faith resolution discussions. If unresolved, disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia seated in Kuala Lumpur.
